Pavel Kogan is a Russian conductor and violinist born on March 26, 1952, in Moscow, Russia. He comes from a musical family as his father, Leonid Kogan, was a world-famous violinist. Pavel Kogan started his musical education at the Moscow Conservatory where he studied violin with Yuri Yankelevich and chamber music with Lev Oborin.
Kogan's conducting debut happened in 1989 when he led the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra. Since then, he has conducted prestigious orchestras such as the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. Kogan has also collaborated with notable soloists such as Yo-Yo Ma and Gidon Kremer.
In addition to his career as a conductor, Pavel Kogan is also an accomplished violinist. He has played with renowned orchestras and chamber ensembles, and he has been a soloist and a conductor in performances of all the major violin concertos.
